The Old Ballard Catering Co., a local, family-owned and operated business serving up global comfort food in Seattle, needed some marketing assistance to grow their business.

I stepped in to build a comprehensive guide on how to do just that.

Since opening their catering business in the winter of 2019, a devasting pandemic has unfortunately affected the community in a profound way. The restaurant industry has been forced into an ‘adapt or die’ scenario, and catering for events of any size suddenly became no longer an option.

Fortunately, the Old Ballard Catering Co. (OBCC) brother-and-sister duo had the means and the skillset to open a supplementary business for take-out and delivery diners. The Counter now serves regular lunch and dinner meals to the community directly from the OBCC location.

I reached out to OBCC co-owner, JoAnn, and offered some consulting pro-bono, given the wake of COVID-19.

One of the OBCC’s near-term goals is certainly to grow awareness within the Seattle community, which I helped them address through a comprehensive integrated marketing guide covering:

  • Social media

  • SEO/SEM

  • Website

  • Partner marketing

  • Event ideas

  • Public relations

The guide covered everything from immediate steps they could take right away, to more long-term, down-the-road suggestions.
